Has anyone any advice on getting audacity working on Gentoo? Every time I
start it I get error messages about the sound i/o system and host not found.
Googling around the problem appears to be that my set up uses Alsa and
Audacity uses OSS. Audacity looks for /dev/dsp but it does not exist. I

Rubbish!! - The whole point is Firefox is extendable. Get the "Mozilla archive
format" extension from tools-> extensions->get more and you can save whole

So my Firefox IS intelligent enough because I used one of the huge arr
You need to make sure you have compiled in the correct sata module in your
kernel. That is going to depend on what chipset your Dell PC uses for sata.
Either compile it in as a module and load it at boot time or compile it
direct into your kernel. My motherboard has a via-sata chip, I compiled i
I guess the ultimate would be setting up your computers as 30 terminal servers
without hardrives (www.ltsp.org).
What I do on my network is have each machine setup with enough stuff to get it
running and talking to the network and then bring in the /opt, /usr/local and
/home stuff via NFS. You
Why not let them access the tables via OpenOffice's database front end? You

I am not sure how you deduced he can use the i810? Surely thats only if he has

enable the VT82?? option in the kernel.
What you need to do is look at your motherboard manual and find out what the
sound chip is. If its VIA i

Look at the following three and see if anything is weird, check your font
replacement table to see if you have some wonky font replacement going on.
What font are you using??:
1. options - openoffice.org - view
2. options - openoffice.org - fonts
2. options - text - basic fonts

Speaking from a postfix background...so it could all be rubbish!
The tables can overlap in function. Generally you want virtual and alias - the
rest can probably be ignored:
Alias maps one local user to another ie root -> fred would be typical so fred
gets all the root mail.
