thanks everybody for the info. Now I was able to solve my problem. No more
KDE switching applet - and yes, X's own switching is extremely fast.
There was only a minor problem I had to resolv: after I set layouts to
"en,hu,ru_yawerty", there was no layouts anymore in X. I found that the
