Hi,
Is there anyone using postgresql managed by daemontools? And if so,
could you post your run script?

I was lead to believe that on a freshly installed postgresql theat the
temporary password is root and admin. No matter what I try I keep
getting login failed SORRY.
What I tried is:
su postgres
then it prompts me for a password. If root and admin are not the default
passwds what the heck is

If the ebuild doesn't need any changes then

ofcourse 7.4 isnt in mirrors, fetch it urself and rename the ebuild, if
it works, submit the ebuild at bugs.gentoo.org and it will come into
portage, after that, feel good because you contributed

Depends on your purpose. If you want it for yourself, hack the ebuild. If
actually just renaming it doesn't work, cause 7.4 files aren't in the
mirrors yet, so i have to get it from postgresql.org first.
i'm just wondering the correct way to approach this from the gentoo
social structure.
do i : 1 make the ebuild my self and contribute it
2: contact the maintainer of t
renaming the ebuild is the right way, because then it will download the
new version, and its 99% sure it will be correct, because not many stuff
has a diffrent installation method in a newer version, and if it doesent
work, you are so lucky that you can unmerge :)

Hi,
Curious, when will pgsql 7.4 be making it into the portage tree.
I know i can download it and rename the ebuild file, but i'd rather just
do it the "real way" :)
Thanks.
Jeff.

I haven't used postgresql with Gentoo before either, though (and have

I was having a problems with postgresql (I'm a newbie with it), I
reinstalled it and see that the init.d module requires $PGDATA, $PGLOG
and $PGOPTS, additionally, posgres has a directory in /usr/lib, and some
libraries in /usr/lib too. I was expecting that this informations were
