I am helping a Bulgarian Colleague with setting up Geoserver for a project. We
are using the 2.1-RC1. Labeling seem to fail in the sense that the Cyrillic
shows up as garbage. Setting the xml encoding to windows-1251 does not help
either. I did a check and it seems to be an error slightly
Hi Ian,
You have to ensure that your tomcat server is reachable via the internet -
maybe some firewall rule will need to be written. This means that you will
need a public IP address.
Once you have the public IP address, you should be able to access via
http://ipaddress:port/geoserver/wms?

I can't get my geotiff coverages working on 2.1 RC1.
I thought it was a problem with all coverages because I had the same silent
error happening with an arcgrid layer. I since upgraded java from 1.6.0_17 to
1.6.0_22
or you could install geoserver on a cloud server, amazon ec2 for example.

I put together a walk-through for this a few weeks ago:

It's not a production-ready environment, but it's a quick and dirty way
to get an externally available GeoServer instance up and running. It

That page is only intended for use as part of verifying the installation of
the printing community module[1]. If you don't have geoserver running with
the printing extension installed (or your geoserver is somewhere other than
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/) that page will not work for you.
Download the example html file. Find the script tag that loads the
info.json file. Change the url to the one you just listed.
