Geoserver runs extremely well under Ubuntu 8.0.4. I use it with Tomcat 6 and

Can anyone think of a way of putting the feature type name as a label in an SLD
without storing the feature type name as an attribute to the layer? Perhaps a
function that I don't know about, or some other easter egg..

A quick question - did you deploy the WAR version of Geoserver in Tomcat or did
you copy an existing Geoserver installation into Tomcat's webapps directory?
Because if you deployed Geoserver as a WAR then you wouldn't have another
webapps directory inside of the Geoserver directory. It's just...

check my last email – and make sure your SLD passes validation on the styles

Hmm... perhaps the Oracle datastore could be updated to include:
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD-MON- HH24:MI:SS';
That may fix things... I don't have time to try it myself right now though.

I came across this error in 2.0.2. The issue was that the was not being
put into the inside of the layer group configuration file when the
layer group was being edited/created. I think it's fixed now in 2.1 however I
don't have an instance running any more so can't double check.

1. You can style a layer on-the-fly by saving the SLD file somewhere web

If it doesn't show up in the layers list then the most likely cause is a
missing entry in USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA. Try logging into SQL Developer with
the same user and double check if the table is listed in there properly.
