I am attempting to get my GeoServer 2.0.2 running inside my VPS.
I have a LINODE set up with Geoserver inside. When I run the "sh startup.sh" my
start up goes to this point and stops.

I have attempted the install with a .war.zip file and have had no results. It
appears that the .war.zip file did not have a
"sh startup.sh" file inside it anywhere I could see. So..

Thanks for the advice, I am new at this. I tried the
reboot of my VPS, and then logged back in with PuTTy and hit the startup
command again.

That worked, I now have GeoServer showing as working..
I can see the demo layers and, run them in a demo map with a query.
Now, I am still not certain whether or not I should try to use the .war version
or not. I only have a map so far with a point layer which will show associated

I have gotten my Linux system working, to a point.
I have GeoServer 2.0.2 installed on my VPS
/usr/share/GeoServer-2.0.2/
I reach it and start it up with PuTTy.
Once I do this everything works nicely, but it seems that I have to have PuTTy
running on my home p/c for my V

I tried your command but I got an error message which I promptly lost because I
tried
"nohup sh startup.sh &" (I was just grasping at straws, but it worked).
I really appreciate the help.

I have a linux server (running Unbuntu 10.0.4.1) and have installed GeoRover
2.0.2 on it.
I had it running for over a year with no problems, but the server was rebooted
without shutting down GeoServer first. Now the GeoServer will not restart.
