in geoserver admin global settings
add a proxy base url to be base url of your geoserver i used
http://localhost:8080/geoserver
save the details
suddenly no more errors from QGIS all

Just a quick update, since boundless was mentioned.
Kevin has been looking at http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-6059 and
seems to have found an hard deadlock internal to GeoServer. I have been
waiting for him to start a discussion on geoserver-devel :)
