Regarding the question to include it with core Gimp: As already
discussed here several times, the plan is to distribute less
plug-ins with the Gimp core package instead of adding new ones.

eazel_engine_fill_gradient_rgb_buffer() from
/usr/lib/gtk/themes/engines/libeazel-engine.so.

give a large speedup for most of GIMP's filters.

same size. I've had two "letter" papers vary in size by almost half a
centimeter!
