Considering the fact that Adobe even has a separate program called Adobe
Camera Raw, I don't see why gimp should necessarily include a raw loader.
Perhaps maintainers could bundle gimp with ufraw, but to combine the two
projects makes little sense.
Perhaps ufraw could be displayed more prominently
All you have to do is set marching ants speed to 10 and watch it ramp up
the CPU.
Perhaps setting marching ants speed to 0 should simply disable the updates
altogether? Generate the ants at one time, and don't bother updating them
again...

Yeah, haven't had much motivation to add features to the dmg, getting gimp
ready for deployment in the first place is challenging enough.
Also, we're still working on proper window management concepts, which could
take a while.

Here's a brand new build of Gimp for osx, directly from the 2.8.2 tarball.
I have included python and theme support, and it was built using jhbuild
and gtk-mac-bundler.
I have included no plugins, as they tend to quickly increase the size of
the gimp application.
