I too had to change the light theme icons right away for lack of
visibility. Maybe the "symbolic inverted" icon theme should be the default
active. Then only the mid-tone theme(s) have visibility issues. :)

I have such a problem with the small icon theme. It can be switched to
the default theme. The default theme is more recognizable due its bigger
size. Both themes look as gray

other theme, GIMP crashes. Current git, builds by Otto Meier, Mint 17.3
x64.
