Ogg Vorbis is another one - and it already has XMMS plugins and the

Linux version of their server, but it costs $9000. How can Linux be a

Danubio (http://www.danubi
They are not paying for the Microsoft streaming audio stuff... Microsoft
gives it away if they sign an exlusivity contract of some kind...
otherwise, most of the people I know in Public Radio would rather use
realaudio... but it's expensive...

I don't believe it's an NHPR problem, rather,
OOTM: I'm a fan and supporter of public broadcasting (tv & radio), and I
know they are always looking at the bottom line of expenses. Instead of just
asking them to fix this maybe someone familiar w/ business presentations
could show them how much $ they could cut using a Linux environment.

There is a (somewhat) good reason for this. Microsoft couldn't compete
with RealMedia, so they droppe

I'm a member of NHPR. I will politely ask them to fix this.

Just go to http://www.nhpr.org and click on "LISTEN TO OUR LIVE
BROADCAST" in the third column just a little ways down the page. They
just had a quick blurb and are now doing some news (1:07pm), but Linus
should be on shortly.
