I am sure that what I am about to suggest will go over like a ton of bricks with "true" Debian user, but you might consider using Ubuntu to document these "simple commands". Ubuntu is based on Debian, uses the same package manager, etc, but is much easier to install, comes with the GUIs, etc. Jus
