You're not. You're using your parent's TV.
If it's new, you use the HDMI. If it's old, there's the composite jack.

Actually it was not Cable and Wireless, it was Cables to Go. Excellent KVM.

for RPi serial out there are several things out there, a quick google
turned this up:

you could also buy/make one of these:

Because you only have $35 left over after buying the TV?

I'm not doing anything with it. My 15 year old got one for Xmas a year
ago and is doing various things. Curren

Well that's exactly my point. If can buy a new TV, why are you spending
only $35 on a computer?

It was a cheap learning computer for "kids" with an eye toward being like a
C64/Apple ][/Sinclair/BBC Micro where you supplied the monitor. Kids in
poor countries is OLPC
All the things you need to add on are commodities.
HDMI and composite are on most TVs. VGA is not. Adding VGA would increase

I guess that must be what the target demographic is supposed to use. I
never got the "kids in poor countries" + HDMI.

Not that it matters, but I use a 12v composite video monitor with my pi. I
even upgraded from the 4.3" to 7".

I've used an older Belkin that could do 4 ports w/ a parallel cable that
were ok. I have an OmniView 4 port that's old enough to support serial

I see Richard gave me a link to a StarTech. I don't know IOGear, but I
thought Belkin was OK back in the day. I should have come here first.

The two vendors I avoid like the plague are IOGear and Belkin. That said
other than that, one feature you want to explore is how to switch from 1
system to the other. The belkin I had at work gave be terrible video and
I could not use their auto switch capability. Bought one from Cable and

That KVM is crap, I've used it for several systems and I've never had any
luck with it. It has only worked for me on two windows machines, never
worked right on a *nix system at all. I use this one with my linux boxes
and it works fine:

Back in my day we had it bad. Uphill to school, analog phones, etc. But
our KVMs were simple AB hardware switches and we liked it, by gum.
Today, I'm trying to hook up a VGA-only desktop and an HDMI-only
Raspberry Pi to a VGA/DVI monitor with USB keyboard and mouse.
Many options, but I eventually
