Christian, A small comment on what you said in your email. If the word of the administrator is the only valuable item you'd count towards granting someone svn access, than this process needs to be reviewed and dealt with as soon as possible, as it is prone to one single point of failure.

Documentation (and translation) doesn't need freeze-break approval. There are no downsides to improving documentation at any time. In general, you should get approval from the maintainer before asking us, and tell us that you have the maintainer's approval. Up to i18n and docs team. Luis On
