The chat events not marking as read is a bug that we couldn't fix in time
for 3.0. Basically, we were sneaking behind Empathy's back, doing things we
weren't supposed to, like sending replies. Cassidy is working on fixing all
of this here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643594
seems like a very nice idea! i'd welcome a weather applet integrated with
the clock. in fact, it could be part of the base system too. also (and this
might just be me) right now when i open down the clock applet, half of
dropdown bubble is empty, since i don't keep my events and calendar in
Hi!
As a whole, the gnome-shell is imho the best desktop environment out there,
but i'm still having some issues with notifications. Getting right down to
the point:
- when there is a new incoming message, new event, and i get the pop-up
notification in the bottom of the screen, it's a bit
i am guessing these basic hotkeys are hardcoded in the interface, like Alt+'
also, which in my case is Alt+0, since i am using a hungarian keyboard, but
it works nevertheless, unlike these Ctrl+Y and other keybindings of brosers
for example.
please keep in mind that laptops don't have right super
hi!
there seems to be a persistent problem with screen backlight setting under
gnome3. even if the correct backlight leves are set in power management, the
shell ignores these, and alwyas sets the backlight to maximum when on AC
power, and minimum when on battery. is there any workaround for
this is a neat idea, but as before, i strongly suggest to move the whole
notification bar orientation to the left side of the screen, so that iw
ouldn't conflict with the scrollbars of fullscreen windows. the button to
scroll down is hard to hit already since it's so close to the hot-corner,

Hi!
I noticed that when installing gnome-shell from the Ubuntu ppa, there is no
icon on the top panel for wifi and bluetooth, as there are in other editions
(both openSuSe and Fedore, as i remember). I thought it was a Ubuntu
specific issue, but i noticed that on screenshots made under Debian
these all sound very promising! any info on when this (3.2?) could make it
to the public?

i am also really hoping that developers wouldfix this. also it would be
great if there was better integration for empathy. right now the
notification bar icon of empathy is barely cliackable (only the icon, not
the text), and while the chat windows stay on the notification bar, but they
have no
Running GNOME 3 on openSUSE 11.4 using the repo; it is working pretty
well.
that't also what i am considering at the moment: dumping ubuntu and moving
over to opensuse. tht way i can get a rolling distribution (tumbleweed), and
a working gnome-shell at the same time.
don't know if i should
Hi!
I just installed gnome3 with the gnome-shell form the ppa available for
natty narwhal, but there are some minor issues with it.
- First of all, the system doesn't remember screen brightness setting. Even
though i set it up in the gui, and it seems to save it, but every time i
login, the
Yes, but the question remains: How is a headless application
represented in GNOME Shell? How does the user send an application to
the background, given that the minimize button is gone? Is it
really a good idea to go for the inconsistency and just not exit these
applications on window close,
yes, that's also perfectly fine. now if only installing extensions was a bit
more simple. if this happened, i'd surely swtch to gnome-shell on my main
system.
