I went into the ST editor to look at what I've done so far, and for each of
the five I've created so far, the template is empty. If the template is
empty, instead of having the correct accounts to post the transaction to,
how is it going work on 2022-02-01?

I had a similar problem recently. GNuCash would not remember my datafile and
defaulted back to the default data settings on my laptop which I had not
upgraded in parallel with my desktop and I could not change any of the user
settings. This was a problem with gsettings which stores the
GnuCash v4.6 on Windows 10.

When I have attempted to install the last 3 updates, my data is not
carrying forward. It opens as a brand new template, completely blank. I
have to go back and re-install version 4.6.
