As an alternative, you could export your reports as HTML.
This will give you better control over the formatting and the resulting reports
can be navigated by hyperlinks. I am not sure hyperlinks work in a PDF export.

Look at the Gnucash Tutorial and Concepts Guide. Shows Gnucash file

Oh, excellent news, thank you Liz, I'll go ahead and see if I can prepare a
CD on these lines, and if I can persuade them to use it :)
Much appreciate the input!

Wow, does the state pay for your CPAs time doing that rekeying? That's a

You have to do each one individually, however you can copy-and-paste the
note into each of them (one at a time) in a register in double-line mode.
So it should be pretty fast (once you have a register with only the
transactions you need to modify).

I have several (dozens) of transactions that I would like to add a note to.
The same note.
Is there a way to do it all at once or do I have to do each one

I get a lot of files in my documents folder that are like this:
"X"Books.gnucash."Y" where "X" is the name of my database and "Y" seems to
be a date time stamp. They never go away. How to I control these so that
they are automatically cleaned up by gnucash?
Thanks

Hi,
Unless your accountant is familiar w/ GnuCash, they usually don't want to
learn another program.
However, you mentioned you give then your report on paper. Why not just get
them a PDF copy? You eliminate the physical copy and they don't have to
worry about loading GnuCash.

I'm aware I could work this out for myself, but it could involve a lot of
wasted time if the answer is no, and this list might have a quick answer
either way.
At some point, I'll need to submit my books to my CPA. They'll take the
usual reports (general ledger, trial balance, stuff like that) on p

I am experimenting with a test GnuCash file and an import of a small QIF
file from Quicken.
The QIF file is 5 transactions, all in one investment account.
Yet, when I try to import the QIF file, I get the following error message:

This used to work for me, but not today.
The last transaction in the checking account for groceries was entered as a
split because I took cash back (which displays in the cash register). Now I
have a cash groceries transaction, but gnucash won't let me delete the split

I'm not really sure why you're bringing up the SLR dialog. Are you suggesting
that the sort order for that dialog is going to affect how the editor window
