Martin,
The locations reports were stored in changed from V2 to V3. There are diagrams
of the locations for each version on the wiki
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Configuration_Diagrams_-_Windows
you will need to copy any saved reports in the V2.6 and older locations to the
locations specified
The saved reports are stored in GNC_USERCONFIG_DIR , if you go to Help -> About
it will have the link
The files are stored there as saved-reports-xx
if you had backed up 2.6 please check if you can find the file and place it in
this directory.
when moving to mac, you can do the same, copy the
Made it to 3.11 successfully and all looks good so wish me luck for the next
step to 4.13!
I notice that I’ve lost the saved report configurations so I guess I’ve just
got to rebuild those from scratch once I land in 4.11. If I do it this way,
will I need to rebuild again once I’ve moved
Martin,
Since your computer can run window 10, yes just download and install 3.11 then
run check and repair to verify it's all good. Check it out some and then rinse
and repeat for version 4.13. Godd luck moving to a Mac.

The two-step upgrade makes complete sense. I guess I just download and install
v3.11 and take it from there

Good afternoon,
Reminder: The first step should be to back up your data if you haven't
already, especially if you are running on a dying PC.

Martin,
Sorry to hear your PC is dying, but the upgrade is ot a complicated as you
think. 1st, what version of Windows are you running on the PC? Next it is
recommended that you upgrade to a version 3.x, then run under "Actions" Check
and Repair. After you have done that, you can upgrade to
Hi
I’m a not very technical user whose been successfully running 2.6.12 on my
dying PC for about 8 years (since the imminent demise of MS Money!).
I’m looking at migrating from PC to a Mac laptop and found that in the meantime
that several newer versions of GnuCash have been released.

Wouldn't it just be simpler to ask your sister in law to destroy the check
if she finds it? Then write it off/delete it.

I agree that the statement is misleading... all it is trying to say is that
if you reconcile a balance to $1000 and then add a transaction before the
reconciliation date, the balance will change... (that is, if you add a $50
check, the balance will be $950 now instead of the $1000 you used.

No, because I have never before attempted reconciling a bank
Thanks; I used to work in a bank, and I thought there was a policy such as
you described... however, I did check with the bank, and they indicated
that they would honor the check regardless of how old it was. They seem to
be angling for me to pay them $$$ to stop payment on the check, which I'm
I'm confident that informational stuff, and the date, are irrelevant to
reconciliation. And many times, the transfer field won't matter. BUT, if
the transfer field is another account subject to reconciliation, and that
transaction has been reconciled in the other account (e.g. you made a

I've not had a problem when changing any of those fields. You are really
only reconciling the one account.

Good Afternoon
I fully understand that changing the Payment/Charge (on a credit card
account) or the Increase/Decrease (on a bank account) will create
difficulties with future reconciliations.
However, is it possible to change the contents of other fields (Date,
