Thanks for this. I have, indeed, been driving myself slightly insane
with the Posix regex. I might do some more reading on the default
transaction filter to see what it can do... I might have gone to Posix
too soon.

I'm embarrassed to say it is user brain malfunction. Thank you Adrien, I
looked again this morning and realized that Gnucash was showing me my
downloads of QFX files, NOT the folder on my hard drive. Further, the
newer download was not at the head of the list that Gnucash showed me.

GnuCash has implemented the "POSIX" dialect of regular expressions, and
I don't think it supports the complex example with negation you gave in
your earlier post:-

However,
I gave a bad example. In trying to make the example simple, I opened up
a solution.
Consider text to be in the description which would be a negative for
wanting to summarise some transactions in a series of what would
otherwise be placed in a -Cat:Computer:Hardware line.

Simply don't include that account in the Accounts tab of the report Options.
