Ok, I think I've got it. I had subscribed to both the Gnucash list and
Nabble but was using just Nabble.. My bad. I haven't used a mailing list
since the 80's and am a little rusty. I'll be better, I'll be better just
as soon as I am able.

As I said: nabble != lists.gnucash.org
If you were to subscribe to the Gnucash list-- rather than nabble, you'd
understand.

Thanks for the info. I have the same environment and will be doing the same
manual editing you did. I apparently have more time than you had and will be
trying to also fix things on the Quicken side. Thanks again for your post.

I recently went through the process of importing from Quicken and
encountered some errors. I exported different date ranges to narrow the
problem down and eventually hand edited the lines in the QIF file that
had problems. In my case, there were strings of non-alphanumeric
characters in the file. I
Yup, that's what I did, 1 account with transactions, accounts & categories.

But this is based off transactions and I don’t think the OP wanted
transactional data, just accounts.

If you are in a mood to experiment you could try exporting as qif a limited
date range of a month or so from the bank account in Quicken that should
match the account you have already set up in Gnucash both with and without
the account tree. Then try importing both. That might at least get all

Nope, the category import also produces nothing.

No, Quicken does not have the CSV option. It has the options to export
transactions, account list, category list, memorized payees and security
list. I assumed GnuCash would build an account tree from an account list
based on the following from the Quicken Migration wiki statement "Although
it is n
Does Quicken offer the option to export just the account tree as a CSV? You can
import an account tree into GnuCash if it is in the proper CSV format. This is
a fixed format, you can’t map the columns so you’ll need to likley modify the
Quicken export to conform before importing.

You can't. Qif only imports transactions. If you have no transactions
then the importer will do nothing.
