Eliza Nelson nee Mendonca is indeed a Goan from Pune. She captained the Indian
hockey team and if I remember correctly, India won the Asian Games gold medal
under her stewardship. She received the

Eliza Nelson was very much Goan. She lived on Dastur Meher Road in
Poona. She used to be Eliza Mendonca. Her family has been known to mine
since the fifties, when my dad first came to Poona as a student.

don't seem to have noticed the name of Lorretta D'Souza, from Moira. She was
the only resident of Goa to have played in the gold medal winning 1980 Moscow

Yes, Margaret Toscano, of the famous Tosa's restaurant
in Mumbai, was the goalkeeper. Selma D'Cunha from

correctly, one of her coaches was Jaswant Singh,
