[Goanet] Goa's musicians and bands... remember not to forget them.

What happens is that some of these western chaps have read little about Goa's history, therefore the cultural knowledge is zero. So when they arrive in Goa they find a totally different lifestyle (to the rest of the subcontinent) which leaves them in awe and wonder.  Thanks to Sr. Noronha who

There is no issue here with covers, but haven't we had enough of them, over the years, without a single original tune, with local and indigenous ingredients, breaking up the monotony? And, is it asking too much of a musician or band to come up with one single, original tune -- one single, original

A friend, Helene Derkin (now Derkin-Menezes), charmingly narrates her experience of falling in love with the windsurfing champ Derek Menezes in Goa, how she encountered the Goan band, and what a dance at Colva was like in the 1990s. ("From the Outside In," in Inside-Out, Goa,1556 and GoaWriters

Hi Fred. Don't beat yourself up over nothing, something that isn't even an error. So, fuhgeddaboudit, as our gun-slinging Italian-American friends might have put it in their heyday! What we should, perhaps, be more exercised about is the embarrassment of bands that have appeared and disappeared

Hi Linken, "Having to write fast" might be a good alibi and excuse, but for me it's often a matter of a lack of knowledge :-) Can't cure that... LOL. FN PS: For some reason, English and History were not my favourite subjects in school... though I came to depend on both a lot in my work life. Kitem

The fact of the matter is, "remember not to do something" is a common expression and one we use regularly in one context or the other. It is when a word like 'forget' gets appended to it that the intended message takes on an ambiguity that raises a question in our minds or even means something

LOL... Sometimes a centimetre between words, can make a mile of a difference! In myself of defence, studied I at SXC Mapusa (not Dhobitalao/CST/VT/Fort). And the 600 km between the two made a lot of difference. I notice that friends from Bombay/Mumbai are quite impressed when they hear that I
