[Google Maps API v3] Custom markers from My Maps KML file replaced with default.

I'm using My Maps to generate simple maps with addresses and custom place markers. The maps look fine in Google, but when I export the KML files and use the API, almost all the custom markers are replaced by the default blue marker. I'm using the gmap3 jquery plugin in my actual implementation,

My custom markers are not showing up in firefox, but they are showing up in Chrome and Safari (although in Safari my infowindows are not showing up -- weird) The titles and infowindows work in firefox there are just no pins showing up on the map. They do show up if I specify api version 3
