Running Linux Mint 8 ran into the same problem.
Including (http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo) helped.
Checked the SDK box and the Plugin box (from Google).
Took a while for everything to install and had to restart eclipse.
Did not have to do this on XP a couple of months ago. Go figure
I had the same problem, on Win 7 64 bit, and adding the galileo update
site (http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo) fixed it for me
too.

I was stumped with the same problem. I was able to fix it by adding
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo to the list of available
sites and keeping the "Contact all available sites.." checked.

That is really odd. The update site that SHOULD have been part of the
default list of update sites is:
Galileo - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo

I solved it by installing Eclipse on my Windows machine, exporting the
bookmarks, and importing them into my Ubuntu 64-bi instance. Now the
plugin installs.

I have the same issue with 3.5.1. "Contact
Other Update Sites for Needed Software" is checked.
This is the error message I receive:
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could
not be found.

There have been reports of the 64-bit versions of Eclipse not having the
default update sites (such as the Galileo Update Site) included. Since the
Google Plugin for Eclipse depends on WST, Eclipse needs to hit the Galileo
update site during installation.
Try Eclipse 3.5.1 and see if you run into
Happens to me too :(
I'm on Windows 7 64bit, got a 32bit version of Eclipse 2.5 for Java
(Not EE). Fresh eclipse install and havn't had in any older version of
GWT.

This is exactly what happened to me also. This is on Ubuntu 9.10, a
clean install. I wonder where the bug is

Weird. I deleted, re-downloaded, and re-installed Eclipse one more
time and this time it worked. I am not sure what (if anything) I did
differently...

Which flavor of Eclipse are you using? I recommend the Eclipse for Java
developers at http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ .
Also, when you re-installed Eclipse, did you try a new workspace as well?

I cannot install the GWT plug-in on Eclipse (3.5/Galileo). I have re-
installed Eclipse several times. I have also copied Eclipse on a
flash drive to a friend's computer and the plug-in installed fine
there, so it is not a problem with Eclipse. When I get to step four
