Thanks for the tip.
I use the super-source tag to emulate some jre things, but forgot his
usage in this way.
For now I probably leave it like it is as it works now, but maybe in
the near future...

A little known secret... You CAN in fact, change ANYTHING using
gwt... It's called the super-source method, and it lets you replace
whole entire files from any jar or jre library you want. I won't go
into great detail, as you can read about it in

I just migrated to the new gwt 1.6.4.
This consists of several gwt applications.
One of them resulted normally in 685KB javascript files.
After the migration this resulted in 678KB javascript files.
A bit disapointing but also not very suprised as I couldn't use the
