Hey guys, wanted to echo this -- we are continuing development on
starspan again -- it works with gdal 1.5, among other improvements, and
if you have any feature requests (or if anyone can help us make this
into a grass package :), please email me or Carlos Rueda!

Hello Carlos,
sorry for responding so late.
Due to popular demand (that's you and Markus Neteler) there's now a howto about
NVIZ & anaglyphs in the Wiki:

If I understand correctly, Paraview is capable to render anaglyphs on the fl

Have you tried any of the proposed v.select and/or v.distance solutions ?

useful I guess. Please report a wish ticket in Trac for that,

Thanks. Yes, I created the files with the gis.m tck interface. So, I
am (OK...was) a confused user.
But that raises a few questions about the development of the wx
interface:
Is there a way to convert tcl grc files over to wx grc files?
Generally, it is important in my opinion to keep back
Hi Adam,
hm, I guess you created the grc file in gis.m. The format is
completely different in wxPython GUI, see
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/77
File extension must be changed otherwise users will be confused.

Dear friends,
Platform: Ubuntu 7.10, Grass 6.2.3,PostgresSQL 8.2,R 2.6.2
Yes, I am in a hurry. If I do not solve it by tomorrow, then it is back to
ARCGIS I am afraid. It is not my will, of course, but the project's leader is
already not keen on switching to GRASS, so she is pressing for me to
I just upgraded from 6.3 RC 4 to 6.3 RC5 (using William Kyngesburye's
binaries on a Mac).
Now when I open the wxpython gui, if I try to open an existing .grc
file it doesn't open and I get the following errors:

Dear friends,
Where do I find these files, like poly.c? I cannot find them on my
installation. I have 6.2.3 on Ubuntu 7.10, with the grass-dev package
installed.
Do I have to use python?
I thought I could use a bash script.

I think your approach with two runs is adequate, although I am not
sure which tool you would use to extend your polygon as I have not
looked into that issue recently. I have similar questions that I
address. In order to get names of the polygons (conservation areas for
you), I go beyond v.s
Hamish:
Good point. For a large dataset such as Corrado's, it would be better to
use GRASS,
once Corrado surmounts the GRASS learning curve. R is a good alternative
choice
in that it is simpler to use.

Dear friends,
I attempted to solve the problem using R, as Hamish suggested.
Because there are some ring direction changes in the shape files, the
conversion to polylist returns "NA" in some fields. When I run inout() on
those list elements the function fails with error NA/NaN/Inf in foreign

Dear list,
I am still trying to get statistic values of raster cells overlaid by a polygon
theme using the v.rast.stats command.
Executing this commands doesn't result in the real statistics within one cell
but in any virtual figures. Also the statistic attributes joined to the vector

Dear John, Rick, Hamish,
thanks for your kind answers.
I explain the problem:
I have a file with some hundreds of species and 58,000 observations. For each
species, I have the coordinates (X,Y) of the sites where they were observed.
I also have a shape file, with polygons representing conserv

Hi
First
I noticed that my .bash_aliases is not affected when GRASS starts. I
have a .grass.bashrc which is almost the same as the regular one. I want
to have only one aliases-file therefore I don't want to copy the aliases
in the .grass.bashrc.
in the Init.sh in line 939 the test is
