FWIW, last year I tried to get winGrass, ODBC and Oracle to work (see here:
http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/grass-user/2011-May/060662.html) with no
success.
I too would be interested in any help on ODBC working in winGRASS.

Apologies for delay in responding.

column, the same issue occurs.

Hi,
I'm running winGrass build 6.4 r47775-1 on win XP and using v.distance to
identify nearest area for about 7000 points.
Using the v.distance window to enter required parameter values creates and

If working with vector point data and co-ordinates in meters, then using

only a major axis of 25000, this would create a circle buffer.

Hi,
I also reported this problem Jan 13/14 2011 (subject: Error starting
WinGrass 6.4.1 RC1), and below is a copy of what I wrote up about it and
send to Martin Landa.
Note, this workaround to get winGrass to work requires a change to a library

Hi,
I'm running winGrass 6.4.1 on winXP and trying to use the wingrass ODBC
driver to connect to an Oracle database.
I've used db.login and db.connect to define the database and user. When I
run db.tables -p a windows pops up with an error message:

I'm trying to update an attribute table column using v.db.update with
the DBF driver and keep getting a dbmi: Protocol error message.
Example using Spearfish
g.copy vect=fields,myfields
v.db.addcol myfields col="polynum integer"
v.db.select myfields where="label like 'V%'"
cat|label|polynum

Could someone advise if the winGrass daily binary snapshots (6.4, 6.5

I'm using v.buffer to create 25km buffer zones around a set of points.
However v.buffer merges overlapping circles. Is there an option and/or
technique to create the circles without them being merged?
I'm using winGRASS 6.4.SVN-r45245-1 on Windows XP.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've now tested on WinGrass 6.5.SVN-r45072-1-extended with the same
result - adding display labels results in d.vect hanging.
Suggestions?

Hi,
I'm trying to display labels on a map for a quick visual display to
ensure the correct data is used. However d.vect hangs when using
either WinGrass 6.4.1 RC1-1 or 6.4.SVN r45245-1 with the wxpython GUI
on winXP.
This issue can be replicated using the Spearfish data set as follows

Hi,
With the release of WinGrass 6.4.1 RC1 I decided to install. I've been
running WinGrass 6.4.0RC6-1 (March 2010) as it's been the only version
I can get to run on the PC. The PC is a relatively new (July 2010)
installation of WinXP + SP3 and to date, I have been unable to run any

Hi,
I'm starting to use v.buffer to create circles around points on
Lat/Long vector maps.
When entering a value for the distance parameter for v.buffer to
create circles for points on lat/long maps, is the distance entered

variable?

Hi,
I'm hoping the general GRASS mailing list community can help me.
I'm using winGRASS 6.4 (r38875) on windows XP and using DBF files

I'm able to connect an additional attribute table containing
alternative names to a vector map. The cat
Does anyone have any thoughts? ideas? on this.
