What about providing a package of these snippets in a downloadable fashion
with a "viewer" and maybe some search capabilities ?

I think that some of the code bits that get thrown around here can be
extremely valuable for beginners. I for one started off gtk2-perl by
devouring a code sample on the TreeView that was posted by muppet as
an answer to someone else's question.
