DB,
How odd, but I haven't called them yet, but this is the response I got from
superchips ~ Go figure???
>Try Factory Pro Tuning at 415 721 4964 and ask for Marc. There is a listing

Kelly,
FYI - I have heard that if you run Synthetic oil and then change back to
standard type oil it can/will cause damage to the engine. Not sure if anyone
else has heard of this, but that's what I have been told several times.
If that fact can be verified, it might be a possible answer to some

Bob,
The Sales rep got back to me today about the superchip, well sort of...he
asked if the YAMAHA GTS 1000-a was a motorcycle or a car??? He needed to
know that before he could send more information.
Not a great confidence booster, but I'll forward what they send.

I cannot resist adding my .02$ to your tire report too. I sounds like your
last trip was awesome, 11,000 miles through the western states is something!
There is a whole lot of nothing out there! Did you get a chance to stop at
any of the natural hotsprings? They can be hard to find, but fee

Bob,
Thanks for stepping up on this, I knew I couldn't be the only one. I did
find some information about a chip, but cannot get a response from the sales
dept. I did get one respose from the MFG telling me the US Distributor would
contact me, but then I heard nothing. I have been pretty busy so
.. on second thought, I think I'll leave it stock and go for a ride! :-)

Phil,
Very well put, and I agree with you on all points but one. I didn't say I
couldn't pass, I simply said that I would like some more power when passing
at high altitude, for example; when passing several cars at one time (and
yes I downshift and run it all the way up because its a dog below 5

I have gone to smaller chain and both sprockets this year and it seems to be
okay. I felt the only real advantage was it was cheaper to buy the newer

Does anyone know if the headers from an FZR fit the GTS, or if there are and
comparable exhaust upgrades for the GTS? I take my bike into the Mountains
frequently and once above 6000ft or so it starts to lose a significant
amount of power. It seems an exhaust would help this, I'm also looking into
While we are on the topic of top speed and the GTS, I know it goes at least
this fast because I was using a GPS unit. But on the bright side my speedo
was indicating about 145 + - 1 mph, and it seemed like it would go a smidge
faster but I was riding with two other guys and that was as fast we wer
Does anyone know what ever happened with the custom air filters for the GTS?
It was an item about this time last year but I have been off-list since and
would like to get one if possible.
