In modern settings I've used a harness for clipping a child into a stroller - this was Germany so I'm not sure if they are available stateside - that I attached a leach to. It kept my daughter within ten feet of me without having to hold my hand, very important to a very independent little girl.

Has anyone used leading strings in an Elizabethan setting/outfit for their children? How did you do it? Did you attach tapes to each outfit, or is there some way to make them interchangeable? I'm tempted to try to make some sort of harness that I can clip onto my toddler to wear underneath a jerkin
