I have here 2 types of Linux systems: RedHat 9 anc CentOS 4.4 which is
really a RH copycat.
Here's my findings:

Normally it runs the files in /etc/cron.{hourly,daily,weekly,monthly} it
uses the run-parts facility which is standard in Debian.
