The 1st gen threadripper with 8 cores at 3.8 GHz is pretty cheap and I've been considering a new build based off that one. The cooling setups are pricey though at $150 and higher for a good one. I have a 8 core older Ryzen as my main machine and it's solid though so I don't need a new system, but
