I am gifting someone a Kindle Paperwhite. These don't come with any kind of charger but uses a standard USB port and charge supply. The recipient of the KindleWhite has a Iphone 4S and a Powerbook laptop... so is this going to work OK. So will they be able to charge the Kindle using the Iphone

The 4s charger will provide 1A @ 5v. Just go on Amazon, look up the charger, and make sure it matches. Should work as most usb chargers work at 5V The current output can be more, the same, or less than 1A. Typically, it is the iDevice that refuses to charge if it doesn't see an apple

I'm in Beijing until 26 August so I will be waiting until then at least :) If the reports from users are not too bad when I get back I might look into it but for me the two big issues are that is lacks GPS and lacks 3G. I'm hoping that by fall other manufacturers will have their clones out,
