We at the Center for Jewish Education in Baltimore, MD charge for our
DVD/VHS rentals. The fee is $2.50 for 6 days (with a 2 day grace
period). The fee is the same for teachers or regular patrons. If a
teacher borrows a video for the school, the $2.50

Here are some random thoughts on the question of
whether to charge for video and DVD rentals:
The public library in the town where I lived in New
Jersey before 1987 charged a dollar or two for a two
or three day rental. The Trumbull Library currently
charges $1.00 for a two day rental of "popular"
Some alternative ideas...
* Rather than charging a rental fee there can be a suggested
donation. It may sound like semantics, but anyone who is really opposed to
the donation does not have to make it and can still take their video
selection with them.
* Make money on consession. Charge
