Hi there Safranim
I am seeking your advice, and I somehow think there was a discussion
on this subject not too long ago. There is a large collection of
sforim, could be close to one thousand, at our oldest synagogue. The
books belonged to the Jewish immigrants from Lithuania and include

The strangest question I've ever had was whether the phrase milk and olive
oil (as opposed to milk and honey) appears in the Tenach. It turned out
that the enquirer was an olive oil importer, and wanted to know it for a
bet!
By the way, is there a translation of Mein Kampf into Hebrew?

We have interesting questions every week. None
of which I would classify as bizarre. Many times
the question the person asks is not the one they
need to ask for what they need to know.
Here are some recent ones:

Many libraries, especially public libraries, choose to catalog all of

Hi. Does anybody have a copy of Stories from Our Living Past by
Francine Prose, published by Behrman House, that is NOT the c1974
edition? The reason I ask this weird question is that on page 81, in
the middle of the story A Wife for Isaac, there is a chunk of text
missing in my 1974 edition.

As a cataloger, I don't get reference questions all that
often. Once, however, a student approached me and asked if the
librarians were Moshiachists. I asked him what he meant by that and
he pointed out that the Lubavitcher Rebbe was listed in the catalog as follows:
Schneersohn, Menah?em
I sing in a Jewish women's choir and I am also a composer. I have
composed a variety of music in three or four parts. Most of my pieces
thus far are for three-part women's choir, but one is in four parts -
and the ones in three parts can be adapted for SATB. All are based on
