And if getting a full passport is a bit pricey, there is also the
less-expensive "passcard", meant for U.S. citizens who travel around

Thank you, Janina, thank you, Marcia!
My original query was: how can one get a look at issues of the
"Forverts" from 1911? I'm involved in an event commemorating the
Triangle disaster, and was curious about getting a look at some of
the original coverage. Also, I understand that IB Singer publis
YIVO, alas, appears to have no plans to digitize any of their
"Forverts" issues.
And my query to the Forward has gone unanswered -- I suspect that the
copies of the Yiddish supplement at http://yiddish.forward.com were
all born-digital, as none are any earlier than 1999.
Sorry to not have better
Glad to see mention of this site, especially since I'm in one of the

Related to the Triangle comemmorations, does anybody know where/how
one can read issues of the "Forverts" of the time? It sounds like

I highly recommend Joan Nathan's "Jewish Holiday Kitchen"! I was

still enjoy it greatly, both for the recipes and also for the all the
information about the holidays, the people who contributed the
recipes, and the many places aro
Great videos at this link!
But could they be captioned? Libraries are particularly important for
deaf schools, and some librarians (and others) are themselves deaf /

Dear Mr. Schwartz:
That set of subtitles in 12 languages is truly impressive! ( I presume
they are on the DVD also?)
Thank you for having the subtitles in English as well -- very important to
those of us who are hard-of-hearing and deaf and are also interested in
these important issues.

I had understood that the "initial set" of this Talmud was to have been

Hello Ben:
I hate to say it ... but it depends!
Who are the Deaf people that you would be serving?
Would they already be speakers of ASL, or might some of them be Israeli?
The Deaf shul-goers that I know here in Boston are primarily speakers of

Hello members of HaSafran:
has anyone else received copies of many CD-ROM copies from
www.israel613.com at their libraries?
Yesterday, we received a stack of about 100 CDs, half of which are "300

Hello Lance Watsky, and other interested HaSafran-niks:

Hello Lance and everyone:
let me get back to you - and HaSafran - on that!
I had not been formally tracking our dvd-replacement orders, but it looks
like now would be a good place to start. I'll see if I can put together
the kind of Boolean search that would get this info.

Dear Ms. Edelglass:

Hello all:
am catching up on *2* weeks worth of HaSafran postings (due to being out
