Hi,
I have been asked to do a Sudan stain on a heart biopsy for lipofuscin. The
biopsy is in a paraffin block. They are looking to better report and
understand the IHC. I am totally unfamiliar with this stain. I did some reading
but have been unable to find a protocol for paraffin sections. I

Hi,
If tissue is fixed in formalin ( I do not know if it is 10% NBF) then put in 80
% isopropanol can the tissue be processed as if it was in ETOH? What are the
effects to the tissue stored in isopropanol?
Thanks,

you would a paraffin block by putting some fresh paraffin on top of the section

Thank you for the reply Amos. I totally agree but the researcher did not inform
me until after the deparaffinization was finished. She wanted to hold off on
the staining but it was too late and I went ahead with the staining. I was just
curious if there was, in fact a procedure to preserve a
hing without a sharp eye. - Klingon Proverb

Hi,
When I place my sections on the waterbath the paraffin pulls away from it.
Leaving just the edge of the tissue. It is very weird. I have tried at

Hi histonetters,
I have a researcher that wants to stain Purkinje fibers and has requested a
Mallory-Azan stain.
I have no experience with this stain. I have looked online for information but
am reaching out to you for personal advice.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have researched the archives but still have concerns. I have some very small
pieces of tissue that are in 70% ETOH. Should I mark them with eosin or
safranin O? From what I have read the tissues were still in formalin, and mine
are already in alcohol. Can they still be marked? At the
