with toluene and put it back into the machine? If so, how do you do it?
Thanks so much,

I tried just now via Safari, and got this error message:
Gateway Timeout: can't connect to remote host.
Hopefully the IT people can fix it.

I got Gayle's email as well, but when I went to Histonet's page though

What are all of you using these days? What would be good for a small
histo lab that has the potential to grow? (I am already aware of what
Leica and Thermo have from the archives here, but I am still interested in
your opinions, of course.) Has anyone tried the printers, labels and
attachment
. We have pretty much figured it out, but it would be good to have
one anyway.)
Thank you so much!

Oho! Thank you very much, Jim!
To the rest of Histonet, I withdraw my request for a manual. Now that I
have that missing piece of information, I know just where to get it.
Thanks anyway and have a great weekend!

Peri,
Sounds like poor infiltration to me. What kind of tissue are we talking
about, and what processing program did you use?

Emily,
The last time I had this problem, we switched to Ultrastick slides
(ThermoFisher Scientific) and distilled water in the water bath. I
haven't had any problems since with HE staining.

were you, I would first check with the person/organization that
sent them and ask them what they want. Likely you will have to decal
them, process them whole, and cut them to the level that they want.
Good luck!

Thanks to everybody for their destaining tips!

Anything mildly basic will quickly destain eosin. Running tap water will do
it, usually in 10 minutes or so. 0.1% NaOH or KOH in water or in 70% ethanol
will do it quickly.
I searched the archives and found Gary Gill's method for destaining HE
slides, and for destaining eosin he calls for 1.5% NH4OH in 70%
ethanolthe problem is, I don't have any NH4OH in the lab. Is there
another way to fully destain eosin?
Thanks,

that I have tissue come off the Ultrastick slides during
staining...but then I stain my slides manually since we don't have an
autostainer yet.

which retrieval method he used, but I can find out if you need
it). I've never tried to do this, and a search of the archives turned
up nothing, but my keywords may be off.Has anybody managed to save a
section that was coming off the slide?

paraffin, use a mixture 1:1 of iso-propanol and
paraffin, followed by the 2 paraffins.
Try it and you will notice the difference (and the saings).
