Liquid nitrogen in a carboy? Why do you need a fancy machine just to
snap freeze? Sounds like Thermo trying to rip people off??

I actually attended a class they put on a few months ago where they used
Unitrieve. It works really well. It doesn't seem to produce any kind
of background and yes, it is used at much lower temps. However the
retrieval process takes a little longer, but...you can put it in an even
lower temp. wa
Hello all,

leave the slides in buffer in the fridge or something overnight. The
block will be here at 10am tomorrow morning...
She the slides be ok or do I need to re-cut all of them and start over

This happened to me several months ago. Our lab always has high humidity. If
you are going to continue to use clear rite with humidity in the air, I would
change it everyday. Also, change out your 100% because it's inevitably getting
water in it too. I just switched my whole lab back to xyle
I tried ordering this system a few months ago, and it was discontinued?

DO NOT let the sample come in contact with water!!! Let them fix in
100% alcohol. You will also need to set up a run cycle on the processor
that does not have any water either (ie, no formalin or alcohol
gradients).

I have been required to cut slides at every job interview I have ever
been to. I think this is good practice to follow because if you know
what you are doing you should be fine and have no worries. If you are a
book tech and have no practical experience then you should not be hired
over someone w
The melters are pretty cool, but they have a pretty cool price tag too!
If you are on a budget, this is not practical. I use a scalpel. Just
make sure you dull the edge a bit before you use it so you don't chop
your fingers off =)

Has anyone ever heard of the company, Stem cells? I have been trying to
contact them all morning to order an antibody, but no one ever answers
the phone. Little nervous.

Hi
Hello Histo-hotties!
Question: We are working with xenograft tumors in mice. The tumor cells
are human in origin. I am trying to come up with some kind of stain
that will stain all the mouse cells and none of the human cells. Just
to be able to determine if any of the human tumor cells are in a

Been reading all these responses...so funny how different places do different
things. An old job I worked at poured gallons and gallons down the drain on a
daily basis. I do think there was some kind of filter system in place, but all
the same...how do you filter out all the little things?? I
Hello all,
We are having an issue with water (Millipore filtered and tap is the
same problem). We put the water into glass pyrex jars (the kind with
the orange lid) and autoclave. After they are done there are tiny
little naked eye visible particles of stuff floating in the water. It
shimmers a
I am a manual tome junky! I like the Thermo Finesse (I think it's 325).
