Ctrl+A returns the view ports to their original sizes but there is an
absense of a maximize key.
Any chance of this being added?

I don't know what's going on with Hammer and your internet. But, if you
want to control the camera much more easily, press Z and use the WASD keys +
mouse to move around.

not many other game studios do such a thing =).

I'm trying to toy around with the idea of running the latest version of
Hammer off a USB thumbdrive. I have ample amount of space for the
executable, and the only textures I'd need are the dev_measure* ones, so

The env_steam entity, when the 'particle type' is set to 'heat wave' could
produce a smilar effect to what you're looking for (maybe it would be a good
starting point to work off of). Remember the Ravenholm levels with the
propane tank canister?

And, if you do mean paralax mapping, it is not currently implemented in the
source engine. Last I heard about it was that paralax mapping was causing a
problem which VALVe could not fix.

Delete your clientregistry.blob file. If that doesn't work, create a mod
shortcut (right click > create desktop shortcut) and launch the game via the
shortcut.
