while the expansion was still called Aftermath and not Episode One.

shared the same code base to my knowledge, they weren't completely

Well, while I would like to see something like that too, you give a silly
reason IMO... Many apps have their own interface style, regardless of what
OS they were created for... Even something as widespread as WinAmp uses its
own interface and it's by far not the only program that chose that.
And
I think they should also separate Source and Half-Life 1 modifcations, both
on the browse games section and on the "Play Games" Steam menu...
But yes, separating single and multi player mods would be another nice help
for users that are browsing for mods... Perhaps even give it its own button,
