Is there any way to differentiate between a HLDS server running VAC (the
old, hasn't been updated for 18months) versus VAC2 by querying the server by
rcon?
In HLSW, it just comes up saying in the Anti-Cheat Tool Column *Valve's
Security Module*
I'd rather go with the opterons, should perform better with game
server loads. Much/any of a price difference?

I'm a little stuck in the middle with these two. They both have identical
specs aside from the CPUs.

Clayton,
In response to your cynical "learn to read" message to Xanax:
I have read every one of these email messages, and it has not at been clear
if VAC was actively banning mods other than CS:S, or what the "beta" mode
and launch line switch (-vacbeta) was doing vis-a-vis actual banning.
The
I haven't actually checked yet, but are there log entries when a player
is dropped from the server for a VAC2 violation?
I'm guessing that when they're banned, they're banned from Steam
entirely - as opposed to just the server they were playing on?

Maybe it's just me, but I think "going out and having fun" ought to take

As we have said many times before (for example:

there will be no explicit announcement of VAC2 being enabled. It has
been actively banning people for a few weeks now however.

You shou
You should run the update command anyway to get the new engine binaries
(that enable VAC2 by default on Source servers). HL2DM is VAC2 protected
(as long as you have the most recent engine update).

Drew, thanks.and I'm guessing that since I did not install the CS:S

VAC2 protected. I don't read about CS, or visit CS threads since I hate

VAC2 has been live for CSS for a week or so. There are a ton of threads
about it at the steampowered forums. Remove -vacbeta because it's not

HL-DM, OP4, CS ? Is it still in beta, or are people now being officially
banned?
I'm still running the -vacbeta and sv_secure 1 switch and CVAR on my HL2DM
servers.will that change? I didn't get the last couple of
