[hlds] HLSW+log/logaddress_add on L4D server

2008-11-23 Thread molaughlen
I'm having trouble with a gameservers.com-hosted L4D server regarding the log/logaddress_add feature. The only way to fix it is to restart the server. Basically HLSW will work for a few hours and then stops. Attempts at re-enabling it produce timeouts. I've added a ticket to gameservers.com

Ive noticed this too, usually only takes a logaddress_delall and then readd using hlsw buttons or manual reentry. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I'm having trouble with a gameservers.com-hosted L4D server regarding the > log/logaddress_add feature. The only way to fix it is to restart the > serve

You are misinformed. Windows 2008 offers no drawbacks compared to 2003. Microsoft did not give server 2008 the Vista treatment in terms of resource usage. Server OSes are really not designed to be trimmed down, unless you are interested in running Server 2008 Core, which might be a good option as

Yeah, I've noticed the new STEAM_1 now instead of STEAM_0, I've decided to throw out storing the steam ID's as strings and will be converting my database to store them as the 32 bit integer version of a steam id. I kind of wonder why valve did that though. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL

Server OSes are really not designed to be trimmed down? You would expect a server OS to have a light memory and cpu footprint, giving more resources to the applications it will be running. On Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 5:50 PM, Brad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > You are misinformed. Windows 2008 offer

What I meant was that they are already trimmed down. From my experience, it is more likely that you have too little on a server OS initially than too much. Also, like I said, I find it highly unlikely that Server 08 has a higher footprint than Server 03. On Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 9:32 PM, J T <[EM

I would really love to see a fix for this. More than likely, however, it is not a bug, but a lack of functionality. This "problem" existed in all other valve games as well. What we really need is some kind of cvar that would dictate what ip address was broadcasted to the valve matchmaking system.
