It's rather rediculous the way this happens. I had a server delisted once
simply because it wasn't a busy server. Apparently there were a number of
people joining and leaving in a short period of time and Valve takes that as
a sign that I was doing something wrong.
Really, if you pay for a server
The Source games have such a high number of people hacking/DOSing servers.
If your resources aren't being taxed, I'd guess someone is exploiting the
engine or attacking your server.

That's funny. My clan's TF2 server, which we just took down, is showing up
on the first blacklist you have there. All we had running was the Valve
created bots for the maps that they can play on and we some how got on that
list.. oh well, took the server down anyway because there wasn't enough

Can anyone offer any advice? Has anyone else seen similar behavior? Any

Thanks for letting me know. I have added my own comment. I am glad to see
this is SM related.

I recently switched from one provider that had Windows server to another
provider that has Linux servers. Now, I find that sometimes when I try
connecting to my server via the lobby, the server doesn't switch to the
lobby settings. For example, if me and my clanmates meet in a lobby, get a

I've recently changed from windows to linux servers. I don't know if this is
specific to linux servers, but it seems like I frequently have a problem
with the server not going to the lobby settings when connecting via lobby.

I used to run L4D and L4D2 servers on Windows but recently changed hosts and
now I'm on Linux so I'm wondering if this is a Linux problem.
I create a lobby and then join my server using the
mm_dedicated_force_servers console command. Lately I've noticed that most of
the time on both servers, the s
Reserved slots don't work on L4D or L4D2.

The bot issue you are refering to has to do with server admins running "fake
clients" plugins. These report more players in the server than there
actually is. Apparently Valve has come up with bots that actually play the
game, just like in L4D/L4D2.

Might be related - After the update the only way for me to connect to my
server was through X-Fire. Trying to use the browser wouldn't work until the
first time I connected via X-Fire. I also had a player come in and claim
that my server showed it was almost full when we only had 6 players. I

The update came out after I was in bed last night so it didn't update unless
by some miracle autoupdates are suddenly working on Windows servers.

I do not believe autoupdate works with Windows server and I'm the only one
that runs the updates.

Is this a server update? I ran hldsupdate and got no new files this morning:
Checking bootstrapper version ...

Checking/Installing 'left 4 dead 2 common' version 11

The original game's demo was only good until the regular game came out
so I'm sure L4D2 is the same way.

Well then, how come you don't have the access to run a Steam update? TCAdmin
has the ability.
