The guy speaks from the player's POV and simply doesn't give a thing about
admins' problems like servers migration or load balancing.

Roma, there's one thing you're wrong about - setting up a redundant location
with real time replication and automatic failover is not all that
complicated and expensive nowadays as one can think.

is that you can not accomplish lost of
general tasks without hacking into the game.
Also, even the page with Valve's requirements for admin plugin contains
stuff that simply can not be implemented in legal way using Valve provided
tools (khm, khm, try to implement slap feature in Source)...

Hello Charlie,
Last time I checked, more than 60% of all Source servers were running Mani
Admin Plugin.
Hope it helps in your research ;)

In fact it should be the same as in scrds: put sv_lan 1 in your server.cfg
or +sv_lan 1 into your command line.
Hope this helps,

You could create a php script to send rcon commands to your server which
makes it pretty much an admin panel

Hi
Just an addition: google for rcon.class.php, this might help.
Also, there's a hack for Psychostats made by Quark and available at
http://psmod.net that has this functionality built in so you can condier
using it right away.

lines. You might be surprised to
know that there are places where DSL would cost you about 1000 USD/month
(that one thousand, not typo) and there are other places, where DSL is not
an option at all and dial-up is the only way to get into internet.

I think that would be a good idea also.

That might be cvarblock plugin. It's known to lock certain cvars and
preventing you from changing them until you restart the game completely..

Thanks for the tip mate but I'm more worried about CPU usage rater than
bandwidth. I have fair 100 mbit on my server so bandwidth have never been an
issue. Though CPU sometimes is...
Thanks anyway,

Same problem here. It happens randomly after several hours of normal server
work. You can also see the message Got Steam2 authentication from unknown
user in server console at each connect attempt. That's basically the only
trace that someone tries to connect to your server.

Alfred,
I sent you an example of such behavior. In fact, there's nothing in the logs
and I can't see the pattern (e.g. some general occasion which would cause
the bug) so it's really hard to catch this bug. I've seen it on all of my
servers (2xCS:S, DODS and HL2DM).

we'll see it in todays update but
somehow I don't really beleive that... Sometimes I just can't get Valve's
priorities... They reply to questions about number of players for DOD servers
and ignore people havnig severe problems with VAC2 :(

Yes, it's broken. The server fails instantly if you specify -steamport. Remove
it from command line until Valve fixes it...

Hey,
When starting a SRCDS server with the -steamport
Martin,
I know it's a bit offtopic but is it possible to edit recorded demos?
Particularly cut unneded parts?
Thanks,

Just to confirm that problem exists in my setup as well.
Config is Linux SRCDS running on Debian, Mani Admin Plugin 1.1.0b and
Statsme plugin are installed.

Just ban the guy. Or if you need proof make a couple of screenshots on his
comp and request him to send them to you. Screenies can be made by running
jpeg command using client_exec (you'll need some admin plugin installed,
either Mani or one of his rivals).

Valve, please read,
There's a problem with last update. When a player selects Russian language
in Steam CS:S starts crashing once every 3-5 minutes.
Also Russian names in voice comm now unreadable, just as looking at Unicode
text in Windows encoding.
