Hello,
I am a newbie at Linux.
I want to start my server via crontab
but it doesn't seem to start.
if I do a tail -f /var/log/messages i see :
Oct 31 18:27:00 tuxmaster CROND[1649]: (counter) CMD
(/home/counter/hlds_l/startcs)
and this is my startcs file :
#! /bin/bash
/home/counter/hlds_l/h
Most network cards provide a output to monitor trafic, or at least thats how
I've done it in the past. Dont know of a good program to watch it with
though, been ahwile since I've used it. I had a program that did a nice job
of monitoring cpu, mem, bandwith usage, and a few other things like xmms
Ram is the key, I run mine on a celeron 633 with 512M. CPU usage is
minimal most times, but i do use more than 256M even with just a few players
on. Red Hat 7.1 bare bones install.

Nope. I've exec listip.cfg
The lack of a real picture makes me worry somewhat.
Vaporware?
If it's real though, I like the idea... I could get cable in my office
so I can still have servers and whatnot at least accessable when the net
connection fries :)

hlds_run seems to duplicate entries if you do multiple "addip"s on the
same address. You may be exec'ing listip.cfg more than once.
Put "exec listip.cfg" in autoexec.cfg and the problem may go away...?

Humm..I never saw that before but it seems a good product...the question is:
does it really workà router+firewall+load-balancing+8 port switch for
less than 400$ is a little bit to "cheap" to be honest :)

Hello hlds_l gods,
Slightly off topic as noted in the Subject line.
Now that that's out of the way. I currently run a small hlds_l DM
server with a 10 player max. I am pushing it with just 10 players.
This is on a 1.5/384 ADSL connection. While browsing I came across
this.

Thanks for all the suggestions and feedback guys... I certainly will take it
all into consideration when building this. I have plenty of ram lying
around, though with that old style memory it's more a matter of finding a
match than anything. I am putting it together either way, and will check out

I have noticed that if I perform a "rcon listip" while
in the game the server will return the entries of the
listip.cfg twice per ip.
10.1.1.1
10.1.1.2
10.1.1.3
10.1.1.1
10.1.1.2
10.1.1.3
If I manually check the actual file on the server I
see the entries only once.
If I then perform a "rcon wr
What do you guys use to check your bandwidth usage per player ? Is
this something you are able to look at on the fly ?

I believe your cpu wont be enought for a server with good ping.
How many players do you want on the server?

You need more RAM. I've been running a CS server on a Pentium Pro 200 Mhz
with 320 Mb RAM .. handled 14 players without any probs... but only because
of the 320 Mb RAM
