Yep. This question comes up all the time; I
right, some precisions :
yes, obviously, linux kernel doesn't seem to pass hl lan browser broadcast
packets to hlds when it's bound to a particular interface ("+ip local_ip").
*but* the all-seeing-eye (and its "find lan servers" tool) actually displays
ip-specified lan servers.

Perhaps ASE sends query packets to every valid IP on your subnet. I'm

Same here. GF2 MX PCI (3D Blaster from Creative Labs) in OpenGL default
mode.
I'm running W2K Pro SP2, and Detonator 2.3.1.1 (because the newer versions
don't allow for the refresh rate fix, and I hate 60Hz).
I don't see the "floaters" that often, but enough to annoy me (and get me
killed in a
then explain to me WHY my _linux_ server running hlds with its ip specified
_is_ being displayed in the all-seeing-eye and _not_ in halflife lan browser
please
explain to me

No, I've seen this alot too, and it pisses me off to no end. I end up
shooting at ground level below the guy, hoping I'm shooting in the right
spot to hit his anti-gravity ass
Any chance this will be fixed soon Valve?

Most of that's wrong; so just to set the record straight --
The linux kernel does not pass received broadcast packets to applications
bound to a particular interface. Windows does. Hence, servers with a
specified IP running under windows will show up in the the game browser, but
those running u
