Eric...
Any chance we could get some kind of 'reason' on what people get kicked for
when VAC does it?

That was exactly what I wanted to do. Send it or be banned. If they aren't

hopefully, it will be VERY clear. If it's not very obvious that they are

I would take the demo on your machine while spectating. Exit the game
and install a wallhack on your box. Now when you watch

Sorry steve, you wont see the wallhack, and alot dont even use a menu
but key binds.
Not to mention the problems your gonna run into getting people to send
the right demo's, or
admin_execclient client record

Execute that, and the first thing you should see in his demo, is your name,
as an admin_psay to the client, saying whatever phrase you
Hlguard is all about rendering cheats useless, as the OpenGL wallhack is
updated as soon as a VAC module comes out then servers running hlg will
benefit by rendering it useless.
Without the wallhack of the openGL cheat the program is useless, read
the ogc forums and those alone will tell you

The demo wont show ANY of the cheats functions or menus(ogc style).

My understanding is that the demo only records coordinates and actions.
Therefore, when played back on your box, it will appear how it would have
appeared as if
Hi all,
This is probably a bit off topic, but i dont know of any HL Client
mailing list. Does anyone know of a way to set a players name from the
client commandline? I've tried +name and +set name, but these dont seem
to work, I have a feeling they used to but i'm not sure. Any ideas?

A screenshot, OTOH, is an actual picture of what the client sees.
Unfortunately, it's so easy to edit a screenshot that unless you get them to
send it right away, it's useless.
Hmmm, how about Valve building a watermark into the screenshot so
that you know if the image

Remember that you have to upload this picture to your machine trough the
server..can take some amount of time (since it's a bmp picture) and
could cause lag (imagine downloading 16 pictures from all the players on
the server..) Even if you got a T1 line, the client also need good
upload, making

If you are running multiple hlds instances from the same directory, you
can specify different files for EVERYTHING, but I can't seem to find the
variable to change the MOTD filename. Anyone know it? Does it exist? EX:
+motdfile MOTD2.txt? Thanks

Actually, Punkbuster did this pretty well (One of the few things PB
actually did do well). It allowed you to take a screenshot on
For different motd use +motdfile .txt.
