Hell Id say this guys doing valve a favor. Valve probably just doesnt want
to have the responsibility, or bother to maintain a won system. They will
be able to focus on providing updates to there new customers. I say let
these bastards do what they want with 1.5 or won, after all most puirchased

I hope he has good lawyers - and a lot of money to throw at them. I suspect
a lawsuit will be coming from Valve's attorneys - fast and nasty - in the
very near future. I hope I'm wrong

Hello everyone,
I've put together a quick fix against that vulnerability.
This fix is for hlds_linux 3.1.1.0c _ONLY_, i haven't even thought about
the implications it might have with 3.1.1.1x versions.
It works for me (e.g. doesn't crash on load), allows me to play, and
prevents the poc by Luigi
Sorry false alarm.
I should have tried this on a "clean" server.
The mod that is causing this is CSDM (http://www.tcwonline.org/~lambda/)

Maybe everyone know this:
Fire a weapon 5 shots, drop it take it again. And the clip is full again.
Some people are doing this instead of realoading.
Very usefull when:
You are low on ammo, the ammo "grows" when you drop it.
General reloading, doing this against a wall is more fast than any
weapon

I am, see the tilda ~ = /home/gameserv , and then the rest is /bin/hlds_l
it all equals to /home/gameserv/bin/hlds_l
I solved it by copying the steam binary from another server, then
removing the BLOB file. Running update, then it updated the steam binary

My 'auto-updating' server was vulnerable.
Now manually updating.
Thanks for the heads up

The reason for it is because when you open your client server list, and your
client asks STEAM for a list of servers, STEAM will start giving you a list
of servers, starting with servers whose IP address' 4th octet is 1, then 2,
then 3, etc
In fact, there are many servers out there that cannot
Maybe the no-won patch is not AS worrying to valve as the no-steam 'mod' they claim to
have devised for running cstrike without steam.
Maybe someone from valve should lookup this guy :
