chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin ? :P What is the specific error you have?
Nothing runs? I know you need a library (sorry, no idea which) to
decompress the archive.

I've installed tons of libraries, it doesn't want to work at all..

Hi!
Try the ia32-libs.

I had this exact same problem on Ubuntu 8.04 on AMD64, and the problem was that
I didn't have all of the required 32-bit libraries installed. Can't tell you
exactly what you need on Gentoo, but that sounds like your problem to me.

I don't have any ia32-libs, there are only some emulators that are already
installed, and William you are right, but the problem is I cannot figure out
which and how to install them, seems that nobody knows, it's like I'm the
only one trying to run 32bit binaries on gentoo amd64, unfortunately my
You need to specify a map with +map, not -map, i.e. +map crossfire.
Other than that your server does not seem to be autoupdating as I
thought it would once the crash was gone. Your best bet would be to
download a fresh server install to a new directory and then swap
whatever maps or else you
Hi,
try:
ldd hldsupdatetool.bin - it'll show you what libraries hldsupdatetool
depends on. Then look for every one within that list and you'll see
what's missing.
Btw, 2 days ago I installed fresh gentoo amd64 (of course, with
multilib) and hlds runs fine without installing any other packages.
Hi,
again me, do you have glibc compiled with multilib USE-flag?
emerge glibc -vp
see if there is (multilib) or (-multilib). Minus sign doesn't have to be
there (if it is, it's mean that you have no multilib support - so no
32bit support).

I'm back to freebsd, works better this way, I got into the multilib thing

But didn't checked glibc specially, anyway I've recompiled it with
USE=lib32 ... and also ldd wasn't working at all.
Thanks anyway, on the next machine I'll try.

After all the updating I see that the version is the same as what I had
been running.
I'll have to look at the suggested replacements for metamod and adminmod.

Hello,
I have some new info about 1000fps servers that we were discussing in
November 2008.
Old topic is here:

Mods are not the issue here.
I have taken the liberty and got a hl server for myself; I'm running

Hey... I have said several times with my replies but I'll say it
again... I'm not a major user of these servers and only use them for
private games... So don't take my advice to heavily but, the Libs thing
seems proficiently similar to my issues... If it says that there are

I am not sure of the exact hardware needs (RAM/CPU) for TF2 and L4D. I
currently have a L4D server running on a Windows XP Pro w/ 512MB RAM and
a P4 2.0Ghz, which runs good until we get more than 6 real players on VS
then it tends to lag a bit. So I am looking to buy/build a server that
